ACC Annual Scientific Sessions 2027

American College of Cardiology — ACC.27

Mar 29–31, 2027 McCormick Place, Chicago IL 3 days · 15,000+ attendees

About ACC.27

The ACC Annual Scientific Sessions (ACC.27) is the premier cardiovascular conference in North America, convening over 15,000 cardiologists, pharmacists, nurses, and researchers from more than 140 countries. The 2027 meeting at McCormick Place in Chicago marks the 76th annual gathering of the American College of Cardiology.

ACC.27 runs concurrently with the World Congress of Cardiology (WCC), drawing international experts and providing a truly global perspective on cardiovascular science. Sessions span interventional cardiology, heart failure, electrophysiology, preventive cardiology, pharmacotherapy, and imaging — many of which directly update the ACC/AHA clinical practice guidelines.

Late-Breaking Clinical Trials

The four LBCT sessions are the centrepiece of every ACC meeting. Results are embargoed until the moment of oral presentation, then published simultaneously — usually in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, or The Lancet.

LBCT I
Acute Coronary Syndromes & Interventional

PCI vs CABG in complex disease, antithrombotic de-escalation strategies, high-sensitivity troponin algorithms, TAVR long-term outcomes, and structural heart trials.

LBCT II
Heart Failure & Cardiomyopathy

SGLT2 inhibitor real-world registries, novel HFpEF pharmacotherapies, cardiac amyloid treatments (tafamidis long-term), and device-based therapies.

LBCT III
Prevention & Risk Factors

Inclisiran real-world outcomes, PCSK9 inhibitor head-to-head, GLP-1 RA cardiovascular trials, BP targets in high-risk populations, and polypill primary prevention.

LBCT IV
Electrophysiology & Rhythm

Catheter ablation vs antiarrhythmic drug therapy in AF, pulse-field ablation registries, factor Xa inhibitor switching studies, and cardiac monitoring for occult AF detection.

Abstracts and trial results are published in Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) concurrent with ACC.27 presentations.

Pharmacology at ACC.27

ACC.27 features dedicated pharmacology programming relevant to clinical pharmacists and cardiology pharmacists:

GLP-1 RA cardiovascular outcomes — semaglutide, tirzepatide, and liraglutide: which patients benefit most? Integration with 2022 AHA/ACC HF guidelines and emerging MACE data.
Antithrombotic management — DAPT duration after PCI, bridging strategies, direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) in CKD, and reversal agents. Reference: ACC/AHA antiplatelet therapy guidance.
Lipid-lowering therapies — PCSK9 inhibitors, inclisiran (siRNA), bempedoic acid, and evinacumab. See ACC lipid guidelines.
SGLT2 inhibitors beyond diabetes — empagliflozin and dapagliflozin in HFpEF, CKD, and post-MI. Mechanism and clinical application reviewed in EMPEROR-Reduced (NEJM).

FAQ

When and where is ACC.27?

March 29–31, 2027 at McCormick Place, Chicago, IL. Virtual access is available with live-streaming of LBCT sessions and on-demand content.

What are Late-Breaking Clinical Trials at ACC?

LBCT sessions present the first public results of pivotal cardiovascular trials, usually simultaneously published in major journals (NEJM, JAMA, Lancet). They are often the most influential sessions for clinical practice change.

How does ACC.27 differ from AHA Scientific Sessions?

ACC.27 (March) emphasises interventional cardiology, coronary disease, and clinical practice. AHA Scientific Sessions (November) has a stronger basic/translational science and heart failure emphasis. Both present LBCT and guideline updates.

Can pharmacists earn CME/CPE at ACC.27?

ACC.27 offers AMA PRA Category 1 CME credits. Pharmacists may access pharmacotherapy-specific CME content; check the ACC registration page for current ACPE-accredited offerings.
