About ESCP 2027

The ESCP International Congress on Clinical Pharmacy ↗ is the premier annual meeting for clinical pharmacists across Europe and beyond. The 2027 edition takes place at the Vienna Congress Center (Messe Wien), Austria's largest convention facility, from 14–16 October 2027.

Organised by the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (ESCP) ↗, the congress gathers over 1,000 pharmacists, pharmacologists, pharmaceutical scientists, and healthcare researchers. Research presentations, workshops, and symposia span clinical pharmacokinetics, medication safety, therapeutic drug monitoring, pharmacoepidemiology, and digital pharmacy innovation.

Programme tracks

Track 1

Medication Safety & Reconciliation

Polypharmacy management, LASA error prevention, high-alert drug protocols, medication reconciliation at transitions of care. Linked to ISMP ↗ and WHO Global Patient Safety Challenge ↗.

Track 2

Clinical PK/PD & TDM

Bayesian dosing, PBPK modelling in special populations, vancomycin AUC/MIC implementation, target attainment for beta-lactams. See therapeutic window and first-order kinetics background.

Track 3

Pharmacoepidemiology & RWE

Observational study design, EudraVigilance ↗ signal detection, DARWIN EU data network, database pharmacoepidemiology methods.

Track 4

Antimicrobial Stewardship

IV-to-oral switch programmes, biomarker-guided de-escalation, PK/PD dose optimisation for carbapenem-resistant organisms. Background: antimicrobial stewardship guide.

Track 5

Digital Pharmacy & Decision Support

Clinical decision support system (CDSS) validation, AI-assisted drug interaction checking, electronic prescribing safety, interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7).

Track 6

Patient-Centred Outcomes

Pharmacist-led chronic disease management, adherence measurement tools, PRO-based monitoring in oncology, shared decision-making frameworks in pharmacy practice.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ESCP International Congress on Clinical Pharmacy?
The ESCP International Congress on Clinical Pharmacy ↗ is the annual flagship meeting of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (ESCP) ↗. It brings together 1,000+ clinical pharmacists, pharmacologists, and researchers to share research and practice innovations. Sessions cover medication safety, pharmacoepidemiology, clinical pharmacokinetics, patient-centred care, and TDM.
What research themes are featured at ESCP 2027?
ESCP 2027 themes include: pharmacist-led medication review in polypharmacy; real-world pharmacovigilance ↗; PK in special populations (renal impairment, hepatic impairment, critical care); digital health and clinical decision support; and antimicrobial stewardship implementation.
What CPE or CME credit is available at ESCP 2027?
ESCP sessions are submitted for ACPE International CPE ↗ and EACCME European CME credits ↗. Pharmacists should check with their national body — for example, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society ↗ (UK) or ABDA ↗ (Germany) — for national credit recognition.
How does ESCP differ from ASHP or ACCP meetings?
ESCP is the primary European clinical pharmacy congress, emphasising EMA regulatory frameworks ↗, EU HTA, and EudraVigilance ↗ pharmacovigilance. ACCP and ASHP operate within US FDA/CMS frameworks. European delegates benefit from ESCP's focus on multi-country drug safety signal detection and cross-border prescribing.
What is the ESCP Best Practice Award?
The ESCP Best Practice Award ↗ recognises clinical pharmacy services with measurable patient outcome improvements. Submissions are judged on clinical impact, innovation, and reproducibility. Award-winning entries are presented as plenary sessions — a rich resource for evidence-based practice in clinical pharmacy. Abstracts from past congresses are published in the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy ↗.
