About ACCP Annual Meeting
The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) ↗ Annual Meeting is a premier clinical pharmacy education event built around its "Updates in Therapeutics" curriculum. Unlike ASHP Midyear — which emphasises residency recruitment — ACCP Annual is primarily a clinical education conference for practising clinical pharmacists and residents seeking in-depth therapeutic updates.
ACCP publishes Pharmacotherapy ↗ (the official ACCP journal) and the Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (JACCP) ↗. Practice guidelines and therapeutic recommendations from ACCP publications frequently influence clinical pharmacy education content presented at the meeting.
2026 clinical education tracks
AUC-guided vancomycin (per ASHP/IDSA guidelines ↗), aminoglycoside extended-interval dosing, Bayesian MIPD platforms (InsightRx, DoseMeRx, Tucuxi), TDM in critical care (CRRT, ECMO), and pharmacokinetics of obesity. See our glossary: clearance, AUC, steady state.
Heart failure with reduced and preserved ejection fraction (semaglutide/Wegovy HFpEF indication, SGLT2 inhibitors), anticoagulation management (DOACs, reversal agents, bridging), lipid management (inclisiran, bempedoic acid), and antiarrhythmic pharmacotherapy. Reference: Circulation ↗ and JACC ↗.
Novel antibacterials (cefiderocol, omadacycline, lefamulin), antifungal resistance, HIV pharmacotherapy updates (lenacapavir long-acting), and stewardship programme metrics. See our guide: Antimicrobial stewardship ↗. Reference: IDSA stewardship guidelines ↗.
Oral oncolytic safety monitoring, CAR-T toxicity management (CRS, ICANS), immune checkpoint inhibitor adverse effects, and REMS programme pharmacist roles. HOPA collaboration sessions ↗.
GLP-1/GIP dual agonists (tirzepatide kidney label update, semaglutide HFpEF), diabetes management algorithms, obesity pharmacotherapy, and thyroid disease. Endocrine Society guidelines ↗ and ADA Standards of Care ↗.
Alzheimer's disease pharmacotherapy (donanemab traditional approval, lecanemab, aducanumab withdrawal), schizophrenia (Cobenfy maintenance label), antiepileptic drug management, and pain pharmacotherapy. AAN neurology practice guidelines ↗.
Practice Research Networks (PRN) spotlight
ACCP's Practice Research Networks ↗ are specialty communities within ACCP that host their own programming at the Annual Meeting. Key PRNs for pharmacokineticists and clinical pharmacists include:
Bayesian dosing, MIPD, special populations (obesity, renal/hepatic impairment, pregnancy), and software validation. Publishes practice guidelines in Pharmacotherapy.
PK/PD optimisation for antibacterials, antifungals, and antivirals. IV-to-oral stewardship. Annual updates on resistance trends from IDSA ↗ and CDC ARJIS ↗.
Annual cardiovascular therapeutics updates aligned with AHA/ACC guideline revisions. Pre-meeting reading: the JACC ↗ and NEJM ↗ cardiovascular trial summaries.
MTMS, comprehensive medication management, patient-centred care, chronic disease state management. Collaborative practice agreement design for pharmacist prescribing authority.
Frequently asked questions
What is ACCP and its Updates in Therapeutics programme?
ACCP (American College of Clinical Pharmacy) is the leading professional organisation for clinical pharmacists in the US. The Annual Meeting "Updates in Therapeutics" programme is a flagship education event offering intensive therapeutic reviews and live case-based learning across specialties including cardiology, infectious diseases, oncology, neurology, and ambulatory care. It is distinct from the PPS-focused ASHP Midyear in its emphasis on clinical content over residency recruitment.
How many CPE hours are available at ACCP Annual 2026?
ACCP Annual Meeting 2026 offers up to 22 contact hours of ACPE-accredited CPE. Sessions qualify for BCPS, BCACP, BCCCP, and other BPS specialty recertification. Virtual attendance provides the same CPE credit as in-person; on-demand access extends 90 days post-meeting.
What are the PRN sessions at ACCP?
ACCP Practice Research Networks (PRNs) are specialty networks within ACCP that organise member-driven educational sessions and networking events at the Annual Meeting. PRNs cover areas such as cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases, ambulatory care, oncology, and pharmacokinetics. Members can join up to three PRNs at no extra cost.
Does ACCP Annual include a residency/fellowship showcase?
ACCP Annual includes an ACCP-specific Research Poster Competition and fellowship programme listings, but does not host the large-scale PPS residency fair (that is ASHP Midyear). ACCP does maintain a career resources section and pharmacy fellowship listings at accp.com. Fellowship interviews predominantly take place at ASHP Midyear or via direct programme contact.
What is the TDM/pharmacokinetics programming at ACCP 2026?
ACCP's Pharmacokinetics PRN typically runs a dedicated half-day TDM symposium covering AUC-guided vancomycin dosing, Bayesian MIPD, therapeutic drug monitoring for complex patients (obesity, CRRT, ECMO), and novel applications of population PK models. The ACCP TDM symposium proceedings are often published in Pharmacotherapy or JACCP.
